HIP-HOP WON.
THE FOUNDATION GOT LOST.

A culture built on a Bronx block in August 1973 became the most influential artistic movement of our time. Somewhere in the winning, the names that built it stopped getting taught. A generation wears this culture daily without knowing who made it. Brands borrow the look and skip the source. The history turned into wallpaper. BX Originals exists to put the names back.

WHO'S TALKING

Fair question, and it should be the first one. We are not from the Bronx. We were not in the room at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue. We are not the people who built this, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we bring is care. We do the research. We read the primary sources, we watch the footage, we check the dates, and we name the people who did the work instead of flattening fifty years into a vibe. When we get something wrong, we fix it and we say that we fixed it. We look it up before we print it. That is the whole promise, and it is a higher bar than most of what is on the shelf next to us.

ACCURACY

Getting the history right. Getting the references right. Every date, name and credit on a product or in an article is checked before it ships. If it cannot be verified, it does not go on the garment.

We create with intention. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

CREDIT

Naming the people who did the work. Pioneers, practitioners, photographers, writers, the researchers who preserved the record. Uncredited history is how erasure happens quietly.

We obsess over the details and strive to deliver the best products at the best prices, every time.

QUALITY

The pioneers did not cut corners. Materials and construction meant to last, the way the culture lasted. No fast fashion, no throwaway drops.

We're always on your side: keeping our loyal customers happy is our top priority and number one goal.

FOUR ELEMENTS.
EVERYTHING WE MAKE.

Hip-hop did not arrive as music alone. It arrived as four disciplines, built at the same time, in the same place, by the same people. We make for all four.

THE KNOWLEDGE IS FREE

Hip-hop has always taught itself. Those who knew shared with those learning, in cyphers and crews, on corners and in studios. Nobody charged admission to the knowledge. So we do not either. The Vault holds our full archive of articles on history, technique, culture and craft. No paywall, no registration, no email required. Read all of it and buy nothing. The products are for those who want them. The knowledge is for everybody. And if you find an error, a date, a name, a credit, a claim that does not hold up, tell us. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

We are not for everybody, and we would rather say so here than disappoint you at checkout. If you want the aesthetic without the history, there are cheaper places to get it. If you are passing through because the culture is having a moment, you will be gone before our second season and that is fine. If you are looking to take from this culture without putting anything back, we are not the brand for that. What is left is a smaller room. It is the right room.

THE INVITATION

You do not need credentials to be here. Nobody is checking how long you have been listening.

The only thing asked is that you take it seriously, learn the names, respect the craft, and pass it on the way it was passed to you. That is how this culture has always worked. Those who know teach those who want to learn.

Hip-hop started on one block fifty-some years ago and is bigger now than Herc could have imagined. The fundamentals have not moved: practice your craft, know your history, be original, contribute something.

BX Originals. True to the Culture.
